La presente investigación se realizó en el departamento de Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, donde el cultivo de cardamomo constituyó una actividad de alta importancia económica y de exportación. El estudio se orientó a determinar el sistema y tipo de secadora más rentable en el proceso de beneficiado. Se efectuó un censo total de los procesadores, mediante boletas, observación de campo y entrevistas, y los datos se sometieron a análisis económico, calculando la relación beneficio-costo y rentabilidad. Los resultados indicaron que se utilizó el secamiento por aire caliente con secadoras de diésel, kerosene y leña, con capacidades promedio de 45 quintales en 30 horas, obteniendo humedades finales entre 9 y 12%. |
