La presente investigación se realizó en la cuenca del río Achiguate, comprendiendo parcialmente los departamentos de Chimaltenango, Sacatepéquez y Escuintla, con el objetivo de caracterizar el sistema agroforestal café-especies arbóreas en sus componentes silviculturales, agronómicos, ecológicos y socioeconómicos. La metodología incluyó fases de gabinete y campo con análisis cartográfico, fotointerpretación, imágenes satelitales, encuestas, establecimiento de parcelas y levantamiento de perfiles. Los resultados identificaron a Grevillea robusta e Inga spp. como las principales especies de sombra, diferenciadas por rango altitudinal y manejo, además de establecer dos zonas cafetaleras con condiciones ecológicas y prácticas productivas claramente diferenciadas. |
