La presente investigación se realizó en los campos de la Facultad de Agronomía con el objetivo de evaluar la inducción de mutaciones mediante irradiación gamma en las variedades de frijol Suchitán y Cuarenteño, para obtener materiales con mayor contenido de proteína y características agronómicas favorables. Se irradiaron semillas con dosis de 0 a 27 Kr utilizando una fuente de Cobalto-60 y se evaluaron dos generaciones bajo un diseño de bloques al azar. El contenido de nitrógeno se determinó mediante el método Micro-Kjeldahl. Los resultados mostraron que las dosis entre 15 y 21 Kr constituyeron el rango óptimo, al generar un elevado número de mutaciones con baja letalidad. Asimismo, se observaron incrementos significativos en el contenido de proteína, variaciones morfológicas y materiales promisorios con potencial de selección para generaciones posteriores. |
