La presente investigación se realizó en el municipio de Cubulco, Departamento de Baja Verapaz, con el propósito de caracterizar el medio natural, las modalidades productivas campesinas y la tecnología agrícola utilizada en las unidades de explotación. La metodología incluyó la ubicación geográfica de la comunidad, un censo total de jefes de familia, determinación de una muestra de 70 productores, aplicación de boletas y análisis computarizado de la información. Se estratificó la población en cuatro grupos según la compra y venta de fuerza de trabajo. Los resultados evidenciaron predominio de sistemas de autoconsumo, limitada tenencia de tierra, ausencia de riego, baja fertilidad de los suelos, escasa adopción tecnológica, reducida rentabilidad productiva y dependencia de intermediarios en la comercialización agrícola. |
