La presente investigación se llevó a cabo en Guatemala con el propósito de documentar la aparición de nuevas plagas en el cultivo del algodón. Se utilizó un enfoque observacional y retrospectivo basado en registros de campo entre los años 1963 y 1968. Los resultados indicaron que, a partir de 1963-64, la Mosca Blanca (Bemisia tabaci) se estableció como una plaga significativa del algodón; posteriormente, durante las temporadas 1967-68, también se reportaron como plagas el Gusano Falso Medidor (Trichoplusia ni, Trichoplusia oo y Pseudoplusia includens) y el Gusano Soldado (probablemente Spodoptera exigua). Estos hallazgos reflejan una transformación en el perfil fitosanitario del cultivo, con implicaciones para el manejo integrado de plagas.
