La presente investigación se realizó en fincas de cultivo de café (Coffea arabica) en Guatemala, con el propósito de evaluar el efecto del herbicida glifosato aplicado en diferentes dosis, mezclas y equipos de aplicación sobre el control de malezas y la fitotoxicidad en el cultivo. La metodología empleó un diseño experimental con tratamientos que combinaron tres niveles de dosis de glifosato, varias mezclas con adyuvantes seleccionados y dos tipos de equipo de aplicación, registrando la cobertura de malezas, el porcentaje de control, las posibles respuestas de fitotoxicidad y la uniformidad de la cobertura en parcelas demarcadas; los datos fueron analizados mediante técnicas estadísticas apropiadas para detectar diferencias significativas entre tratamientos. Los resultados mostraron que las dosis óptimas de glifosato junto con mezclas específicas y el uso de equipo de alta precisión mejoraron significativamente el control de malezas sin causar daños apreciables al café, y que la elección del equipo de aplicación influyó en la eficiencia de distribución del herbicida, lo que permitió identificar combinaciones técnicamente superiores para su uso en programas de manejo de malezas en cafetales guatemaltecos. |
