En el presente trabajo se describe la situación actual de las principales actividades productivas llevadas a cabo en Uaxactún a partir del aprovechamiento de recursos naturales del bosque. Con ayuda de miembros de la comunidad de Uaxactún, la junta directiva de la Organización Manejo y Conservación –OMYC-, y personal del programa TREES de Rainforest Alliance en Petén, se analizó la problemática existente, y se identificaron oportunidades en torno a las actividades productivas de la localidad, con la finalidad de orientar el plan de servicios a implementar en el área, plantear y dar recomendaciones para mejorar la utilización sostenible de los recursos naturales de la RBM, y perpetuar la conservación de la biodiversidad aquí existente. |
