| Summary, etc | La presente investigación se realizó en el Municipio Santa Rosa de Lima, Santa Rosa, Guatemala, área donde se conoce la presencia de las larvas de escarabeidos, denominadas gallinas ciegas popularmente y de su efecto negativo en las plantaciones de café y otros cultivos, sin embargo no se tenía ningún conocimiento sobre su biología y comportamiento, necesidades diagnosticadas al inicio de la presente investigación. El objetivo de la presente investigación es establecer la diversidad de especies de escarabeidos y su biología en el municipio de referencia, dado el ciclo de vida de 1 a 2 años de las especies fitófagas de escarabeidos, el estudio se dirigió tanto a la captura de escarabeidos adultos, como de sus estadíos larvales, lo primero para establecer un listado de especies de referencia, certero, confiable y el estudio de los inmaduros para establecer su distribución en un sistema cafetalero, además para establecer épocas críticas para su manejo integrado. También se analizaron las normales climáticas humedad del suelo y precipitación pluvial que son los aspectos que influyen más en el aparecimiento de los adultos en campo, con la intención de establecer modelos que expliquen el fenómeno de tal manera que permitan delimitar épocas para el manejo etológico de éste insecto, a su vez se realizaron observaciones que permitieron inferir información valiosa de la etología de los escarabeidos. |
