La presente investigación se realizó en Guatemala, principalmente en el Altiplano Occidental y la Costa Sur, donde los suelos mostraban baja fertilidad y degradación por el uso intensivo de cultivos y fertilizantes químicos. Se utilizó una metodología experimental basada en la aplicación de abonos verdes en cultivos de maíz, comparando rendimientos y características del suelo. Los resultados mostraron que los abonos verdes contribuyeron a mejorar la fertilidad del suelo, preservar la materia orgánica y mantener la agregación del suelo. Además, se observó un aumento en los niveles de proteína en el maíz, permitiendo reducir parcialmente el uso de fertilizantes químicos. |
