La presente investigación se realizó en el Parcelamiento Agrario La Máquina, Guatemala, con el propósito de evaluar la respuesta del sistema de cultivo maíz-ajonjolí a la fertilización nitrogenada. Se utilizaron cuatro niveles de nitrógeno y cuatro genotipos de maíz, así como variedades de ajonjolí provenientes de la Blanquina, analizando además el efecto residual del nitrógeno aplicado al maíz sobre el rendimiento del ajonjolí. La metodología experimental permitió determinar que los rendimientos de ambos cultivos eran bajos debido al uso de variedades criollas y a la escasa práctica de fertilización, lo que evidenció la necesidad de generar información básica para orientar programas de manejo eficiente del nitrógeno en este sistema de producción. |
