La presente investigación se realizó en el Parcelamiento La Máquina, municipio de Cuyotenango, departamento de Suchitepéquez, con el propósito de evaluar el cultivo de arroz como alternativa alimentaria y económica para Guatemala. Se empleó un enfoque experimental, probando la adaptabilidad, el rendimiento y la calidad del grano de dos variedades introducidas de Taiwán, comparadas con tres variedades mejoradas ya utilizadas en el país. Los resultados mostraron la importancia del arroz en la dieta guatemalteca, el potencial de incrementar la productividad mediante nuevas técnicas y variedades, así como la posibilidad de diversificar los ingresos agrícolas y reducir el déficit nacional. |
