La presente investigación se realizó en el municipio de San Lucas Sacatepéquez, Guatemala, utilizando el método científico experimental para evaluar alternativas de control de plagas en el cultivo de repollo. El estudio analizó los efectos del insecticida biológico Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner y del ovicida-larvicida galecrón 50 EC, comparando su eficacia frente a plagas como Plutella maculipennis Curtis, Pieris spp. y Trichoplusia ni Hübner, que ocasionaban daños económicos significativos. Los resultados demostraron que el uso de Bacillus thuringiensis presentó ventajas relevantes, ya que no dejó residuos químicos, no fue tóxico para el hombre, animales de sangre caliente ni vida silvestre, y permitió controlar efectivamente las larvas de lepidópteros. Asimismo, se evidenció que la aplicación adecuada de estos productos a intervalos cortos ofreció un nivel de protección eficiente, redujo costos de producción y contribuyó al restablecimiento del equilibrio biológico, constituyendo una alternativa viable para un control integrado de plagas. |
