La presente investigación se realizó en Guatemala con el propósito de cuantificar la respuesta del cultivo de sorgo a la fertilización nitrogenada y establecer un manejo racional de este insumo según las condiciones del agricultor. Se empleó el método científico experimental mediante ensayos de campo con diferentes niveles de nitrógeno, complementados con un análisis económico. Los resultados demostraron que la aplicación balanceada de fertilizantes incrementó notablemente los rendimientos del cultivo, superando el promedio nacional de 1,000 kg/ha y mejorando la rentabilidad para el pequeño productor, lo cual constituye una alternativa práctica para enfrentar la escasez de alimentos y el alto costo de insumos. |
