La presente investigación se realizó en el Departamento Agroforestal de la Municipalidad de Palencia, ubicado en el municipio de Palencia, Guatemala, C.A., mediante el diagnóstico se determinó la importancia de realizar un estudio de la dinámica de la cobertura forestal del periodo de 1999 al 2017, para el municipio de Palencia, Guatemala, se elaboró un mapa de uso actual de la tierra y se Identificaron las actividades antropogénicas que inciden en la pérdida de cobertura forestal. Los resultados mostraron que para el año 2017, el balance para el municipio de Palencia en materia de cobertura forestal es negativo, se estima una disminución de aproximadamente -476.2 hectáreas, equivalente al 2.2% del bosque que existía en el año 2012. Se Identificaron las actividades antropogénicas que afectan la dinámica de cobertura forestal para el municipio de Palencia, siendo las principales el avance de la frontera agrícola, tala ilícita, crecimiento demográfico, extensión de infraestructura, crecimiento de la demanda en centros urbanos, políticas y factores institucionales. |
