| Summary, etc | La presente investigación fue realizada en la aldea San José Los Tiestos, gracias a la cooperación de la organización no gubernamental Canadiense Guatemala Hope, el Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología Agrícolas (ICTA). Mediante el diagnóstico pudo detectarse en dicha aldea que se encuentra habitada por 180 familias, que ocupan una finca de 32 caballerías por medio de un título provisional con calidad de Patrimonio Agrario Colectivo entregado por el Instituto Nacional de Transformación Agraria (INTA) en el año 1997. La investigación científica fue desarrollada en favor de los pobladores de San José Los Tiestos, evaluando las siete variedades de frijol arbustivo (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), obteniendo como resultado que la demuestra de la variedad ICTA Zam fue la que presentó mejor rendimiento en kg/ha comparado con ICTA Ligero, ICTA Ostúa e ICTA Santa Gertrudis. De las siete variedades mejoradas de frijol, ICTA Zam e ICTA Santa Gertrudis presentaron una mejor adaptación vegetativa, determinada mediante una escala de adaptación del Centro de Investigación Agrícola Tropical (CIAT) mientras que las variedades ICTA Petén, ICTA Sayaxché e ICTA Chortí no fueron capaces de adaptarse a las condiciones climáticas de la aldea. La variedad ICTA Ligero demostró sus características de precocidad en cuanto a germinación, floración y madurez fisiológica comparada con el resto de variedades evaluadas. |
